Mindful Based Psychotherapy

Mindfulness is the intentional practice of focusing one's attention on the present--- including circumstances, emotions, thoughts, and physical experience - with non-judgmental non-attachment. Mindfulness skills include awareness, focus, and acceptance of what is; and can be developed through meditation and yoga practices and cultivated in every-day living.

Current research indicates numerous quality-of-life benefits of practicing mindfulness.

They include but are not limited to:

  • improved immunity and brain function
  • stress reduction and improved ongoing stress management
  • improved ability to manage chronic pain
  • a reduction in depression, anxiety, and other mental health symptoms
  • an enhanced ability to function effectively in relationships
  • an increase in self compassion and empathy for others
  • improved self esteem
  • expanded creativity and increased productivity
